Description:
Branscombe Lodge Cottage is one of four cottages adjacent to The Old Lighthouse at Portland Bill and is a former paraffin store, now beautifully restored. The cottage sits alomost on Portland Bill and is situated up a quiet track and offers spectacular views from the lighthouse tower. It's ideal for walkers, ornithologists, photographers or those just wishing to get away from it all.
The accommodation consists of one double and one twin bedded room plus kitchen, bathroom and first floor lounge in order to take full advantage of the magnificent sea views.
The cottage is open all year and weekly hire commences at £330 in low season with short breaks being available from the beginning of November until the end of March.
No pets, smoking or children under sixteen permitted (accompanied or not).
The lighthouse dates back to 1716 and was the first true lighthouse on Portland Bill. It remained in use until 1906 when the current red and white lighthouse superseded it.
The current owners bought the property in 1981 after it had lain derelict since the mid-1960's and they have completely refurbished it to the transformed building you will find now.
Although the tower is 30 feet away guests have access to the lighthouse in order to make the best of the fantastic views along this part of the World Heritage Coast .
