Bournemouth Air Festival 2009 - Even Bigger and Better

Awesome air displays, attractions and fantastic evening entertainment - Bournemouth is ready to welcome you to the UK's biggest free aviation Festival!

20th - 23rd August - BY THE SEA & COMPLETELY FREE!

The More Bus Bournemouth Air Festival  is shaping up to be bigger and better than 2008. With more aircraft, more on the ground attractions and more awesome ‘Night Air' evening entertainment it promises to be a must-see 4-days of breath-taking aviation action!

Sponsored for a second year by More Bus, the Festival will bring a spectacular line-up of entertainment to hundreds of thousands of visitors from Thursday 20th - Sunday 23rd August.

For 2009 Bournemouth is the regions premier event for the Royal Navy Fly Navy 100 Naval celebrations - with plenty of fantastic interaction, hands on action, displays and demonstrations.

Watch out for an incredible line-up of civilian aircraft including: the world's only formation wing walking team - Team Guinot, Yakovlevs Aerobatic Team, The Blades Aerobatic Display Team, The Matadors, Spitfire, Mustang, Sally-B, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Eurofighter Typhoon and three displays by the Red Arrows.

On the ground, between the Piers there will be 1.5 miles of stalls, attractions and displays.

'Night Air' 2009 from 7pm, includes The Band of Her Majesty Royal Marines, a hot air balloon glow, displays by the Royal Marines Combat Display Team, street entertainers, world record attempt Roar on the Shore, fireworks display.. something to keep everyone entertained!

Did you know, the Air Festival is the only event in the country that ....

* Is by the sea and completely free - no ticket's, no cost it's a free event!

* Has fantastic cliff side views giving you an eye level vantage point of the great air displays with the bay as a stunning backdrop.

* Has an award winning prime beach viewing area the size of 25 football pitches! Not forgetting the 1.5 miles of stalls and attractions between Boscombe and Bournemouth Piers.

It is believed that last year over 750,000 visitors flocked to th event spending over £25 million in Bournemouth. The event takes place between Boscombe and Bournemouth piers with plenty of stalls and attractions on the beach nearby, and in Bournemouth's Lower Gardens.

Despite being in only its second year, the Air Festival will be receiving more RAF assets than any other event in the UK this year as the regions premier event for the Fly Navy 100 Naval celebrations.

This year Bournemouth will be receiving RFA Mounts Bay as well as HMS Cattistock, Black Cats Helicopter Display Team (featuring Lynx helicopters), beach assaults, demonstrations from the Royal Marines Commando Display Team and music from -

The Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines who will "beat retreat" in the award-winning Lower Gardens every evening.

Night Air will include amongst other highlights a hot air balloon show featuring 23 hot air balloons which will be accompanied by a laser show on Friday and Saturday night: displays by the Royal Marines, street entertainers and fireworks display on Saturday night.

Jon Weaver, Air Festival Director said: "We are building our evening entertainment programme, and boosting the already brilliant day displays - we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Bournemouth this August."
