There is parking for 500 cars with a charge, plus places for disabled drivers. The beach has recently been enlarged and is now perfect for families. The new wider promenade has made access from the Cobb to town much easier. The Cobb juts out to the sea and is famous for it's picturesque setting. The main beach is sandy and flat with crystal clear water.
Lyme Regis has a good selection of individual shops, fossil shops, souvenier shops and pubs, as well as a cinema and theatre. Public convenieces are throughout the town and on the beach.
The nearest town is Axminster and there are regular bus services to and from the town.
Dogs are not permitted on the beach during the Summer months.
The area became famous when "The French Lieutenant's Woman" starring Meryl Streep was filmed at the Cobb and in the town.
