Portland Museum is situated in the district of Easton on the Isle of Portland.

The museum was founded in 1930 by Dr Marie Stopes, the museum's first curator and famous birth control pioneer. Housed in two picturesque cottages nestling above Church Ope Cove. One cottage inspired the author Thomas Hardy to centre his famous novel "The Wellbeloved"  around it, making it the home of Avice, the novel's heroine.

The museum has recently been transferred from Weymouth & Portland Borough Council to Portland Museum Trust.

Access by car or bus. There are no trains on Portland.
