Description:

Lulworth Cove is an almost perfectly circular bay with pebble shores flanked by high cliffs. It's location is five miles south of Wool  off the B3070/3071. There is a pay-and-display car park in the village.

The area between Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door  has some of the most fascinating geology in Europe.

Swimming is safe here and there are rock pools to investigate when the tide goes out. There is a Heritage Centre for the children, which has a classroom for school parties. There is plenty of local information and a shop selling souveniers, maps, walk guides etc. The village of Lulworth has shops and a pub.

There are publlic conveniences in the Heritage Centre just up from the beach.

The nearest train station is at Wool. There is a bus service from Wool and you can also hire taxis from this point. The bus operates from Wool/Wareham station, Lulworth Castle, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door  during the Summer months.

Dogs are allowed on the beach but must be kept on a lead.

Places to visit on a rainy day are:-

Clouds Hill  near Bovington. This is the home of Lawrence of Arabia. It is owned by the National Trust and is open from April 3 to October 31, Thursday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays, noon to 5pm.  Tel: 01929 405616.

Lulworth Castle. An early 17 century former hunting lodge in East Lulworth  which was gutted by fire in 1929, but has been partially restored and is open to the public Sunday to Friday (not Saturday)  Tel: 0845 450 1054.
