The Plaza cinema in Dorchester is to show the new comedy film Bruno, which features a fictional gay Austrian fashionista played by Sacha Baron Cohen - but its poster has been partly covered up.

The publicity shows the character Bruno dressed in a yellow lederhosen-style outfit, cut high to reveal the lower part of his buttocks, but the cinema has placed a "now showing - 18 certificate" label over the relevant part of the poster.

Chris MacDonald, cinema manager said: " You just have to be a little careful, it doesn't bother me personally but some people in the town might find it offensive. I've just done it so people don't complain and I don't  want to give them the chance. You've got a predominantly retired population here who may take offence from it, and the last thing I want is someone coming in and complaining about it."

He went on to say: "If the poster wasn't suitable to put up [the film company] wouldn't have published it. But you can't please everyone, you never can."
