Description:
The Bournemouth Air Festival starts today !The Bournemouth Air Festival will start this year with a new world record attempt to launch the highest number of fireworks in one go - 110,000 in 60 seconds or less.
The attempt is called "Roar on the Shore" and will take place in Bournemouth tonight.
Organisers hope it will raise much needed funds for the "Help the Heroes" charity, a fund which supports wounded troops. Spectators can sponsor a firework in a display that will herald the start of the festival on Thursday 20 August.
The festival will run for four days until Sunday 23 August and crowds larger than the 750,000 who attended the very first event last year are expected over the four days this year. The first year was so successful that its return in 2009 was certain.
The organisers said they always saw the first one as an inaugural event and wanted it to become an annual event. It is claimed to be the biggest free event of its kind in the UK.
