Chain ferry rescue !Two young girls had a lucky escape when they were rescued by Poole's RNLI crew as there lilo drifted dangerously close to the Sandbanks chain ferry.
Their lilo was swept out to sea from Shell Bay on Sunday afternoon. The two 12-year-olds were fortunate to be picked up by the passing lifeboat. Members of the crew managed to grab the pair and their lilo and take them safely back to their family waiting onshore.
A lifeboat crew member said that the girls were really lucky and oblivious to the danger they were in and that he shuddered to think what would have happened if they had gone under the ferry.
The crew received a standing ovation from the public on the shore as they returned the young girls to their family.
