07 September 2009

Description:

Surfer stung by huge jellyfish !

Surfer Chloe Lyttle was in agony after her close encounter with a huge jellyfish off Boscombe Pier.

The student, aged 20, who is also an activities leader suffered painful stings and swelling to her knees after a 50cm Portuges Man O War attached itself to her legs.

The incident took place on 25 August and Chloe was forced to go to Royal Bournemouth Hospital's A & E unit.

Her friend tried to pull the jellyfish off her knees and ended up rubbing it with sand to get it off. She was given antihistamine at the hospital and said she still had scabs and scars on her legs. She also said she only saw one jellyfish and has not seen any since. It is believed to be a very rare occurence.
