Ark Royal in Weymouth Bay !HMS Ark Royal anchored in Weymouth Bay over the weekend for tests after a recent £12 million refit.
The aircraft carrier spent the weekend off the Dorset coast prior to three weeks of sea trials. The ship has recently undergone a six-month "ecological" refit in order to return to its position as the main strike carrier and flagship of the fleet.
The crew of the Ark Royal held tests as the ship moved within the bay and anchored during the day and moved out to sea at night. The tests included flying trials and firefighting training.
She will remain in the Channel and the South West over the next three weeks, and may return to the Dorset coast.
