Dorset Coastal Path Open for 2012 Olympics !Part of the planned coastal path around England is predicted to be open in Dorset in time for the start of the 2012 Olympics.
Hilary Benn, Environment Secretary said the initial stretch of the path would open at Weymouth Bay in time for the lighting of the Olympic flame. Weymouth and Portland are set to host the London 2012 sailing events.
The creation of a continuous coastal path will be made possible under the Marine & Coastal Access Bill currently going through Parliament. Royal Assent is expected in the Autumn.
The 20km section in Weymouth is expected to be opened in July 2012.
