Rare Sand Lizards rescue operation !An important wildlife rescue operation has taken place on the Lulworth Estate in Dorset.
65 rare sand lizards have been released into the estate's ecosystem. It is part of of an action plan to save our country's threatened reptiles and amphibians, including frogs, toads, newts, snakes and lizards.
Nearly 400 of our most endangered lizards have been prepared for release into the wild across the country. The sand lizard is our largest and rarest lizard.
The 2 inch long baby sand lizards that have been released at Lulworth come from a number of locations including zoos in Cheshire and Hampshire.
