Description:
If comedy is the new rock ’n’ roll, one liner merchant Tim Vine reckons he’s the new Pat Boone. He believes his act has got nothing to do with rock ’n’ roll, and that Pat’s more his style.
Tim says that when you pay to see a band in a huge arena the one thing you’re desperate for is to hear their hits – but the one thing you’re desperate for with a comedian is that they don’t do old material. However he thought he would try a bit of it on this tour. Just like Robbie Williams does when he’s on stage? He sings a bit of a line then holds the microphone out for the audience to finish it.
Tim confirmed that it’s been a tall order to learn his show and that he had been doing panto in Richmond and had worked out that it takes about 45 minutes in a taxi from his house to the theatre, so he has been going through the show with the cab driver. Luckily the taxi driver is from Sri Lanka so Tim wasn’t worried that he wasn’t getting any laughs out of him!
Tim said he has clumps of one-liners, plus some other bits and pieces. he does silly songs and has a bag of props – like the garden shears. He brings them out, looks at the audience, then says, ‘Shears!’ and puts them back again.
My kind of humour.
