Description:
The Dorset property market may have experienced a boost following the Budget announced earlier this year by the Labour administration.
According to the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), the average estate agent branch across the UK as a whole had 62 registered sellers on its books in April.
This was greater than the 60 recorded in March and was also the highest figure for six months, the organisation claimed.
In addition, the number of people registering in order to look for a new home went up from 274 in March to 277 in April.
Responding to the findings, NAEA president Gary Smith said: "For three months ... the number of sellers has increased steadily. At the same time demand has stayed strong, as have the number of sales being agreed."
In its Budget, Labour implemented a range of measures designed to aid the housing market, such as raising the level at which stamp duty kicks in for first-time buyers from £125,000 to £250,000.
