Dorset Mum Beats ME and goes on to help fellow sufferers of the desease

04 March 2009

Description:

Weymouth Mum Beats ME With New Treatment.

Lyn Atkins, aged 52, a former estate agent suffered with the debilitating illness for six years.

She has recovered after undergoing a treatment and training programme in London called the Lightning Process (LP).

Lyn is now holding her own sessions to help other ME sufferers. She said: “It was as though somebody switched a light back on compared to how I used to feel. “My family think it’s wonderful.“My daughter Sophie said to me that she had no idea how good a sense of humour I had.”

Lyn has three children: Nathan, 29, Gabrielle, 27, and Sophie, 13 and is married to Rob.

Lyn said: “I had been ill for six years, and it was hard to remember a time when I had felt well. At my worst I couldn’t even walk upstairs unaided; if I was at home on my own I would have to crawl or stay in bed.”

She added: “Family mealtimes were a nightmare.“I would try to sit at the table and eat with my husband and our three children but I rarely succeeded. “I would be just too exhausted sitting up and having a conversation, let alone eating as well. It was very distressing for all of us.”

It all started with an interview she listened to on the Radio Two Jeremy Vine show with a woman who had become well after taking the course following 12 years of ME. The course has been devised and developed by osteopath and trainer Phil Parker.

Lyn said that she felt fantastic after the first day.

“I had arrived for the course feeling exhausted and apprehensive.“The speed of change really was like lightning. “Following the course, I went sightseeing in London. “I walked, shopped had dinner with friends in a busy pub, travelled across London to arrive where I was staying at midnight. The next morning I was up at 7am singing.”

Lyn has now  become a Lightning Process practitioner, after a year-long training course. She runs a three-day Lightning Process at the Nielson Clinic in Weymouth, also The Mind Body Spirit Centre Dorchester.
