New Weymouth FC boss Gould to galvanise team

16 April 2009

Description:

The chairman of Weymouth FC, Ian Ridley, believes that Bobby Gould the new boss of the Dorset club will secure their future in the Blue Square Premier division.

Gould was appointed after the dismissal of Alan Lewer, who was relieved of his duties following the club's eleventh straight defeat.

Ridley told BBC Radio Solent: "What we need is a leader of men, someone who can galvanise the football club and Bobby will do that. We had to make a change to alter the air of resignation around the place."

Weymouth  entered Easter Monday's home game with Forest Green in the relegation zone and consequently the change of manager was vital, said Ridley.

He also said,  "We felt we had to get something out of the game against Lewes on Saturday and if we were to stay in this league it was a game we needed to get something from. We talked as a board on Saturday evening and decided we needed to make a change and I informed Alan of that. We wanted someone experienced, someone passionate and someone who could give the place a buzz and Bobby Gould fits that criteria."
